Mumbai Police initiative for women passengers

An initiative by the Mumbai Police -- Travel Safe When Alone -- any women before taking an auto rickshaw or taxi could message the registration number of the vehicle to a dedicated helpline number 9969777888.

A help desk has been set up outside important railway stations to facilitate availing taxis and autos for women.

Importantly, Mumbai Police should be appreciated especially for deploying women police personnel at important railway stations. These women personnel are assigned the task of taking down personal details of the taxi driver including the registration number of the taxis plying women passengers.

I met this extremely polite police personnel right opposite Dadar station at the Swami Narayan temple junction a few days ago while commuting after 12am.

A big thank you for the security measure by the Mumbai Police.
